Faith McManus is a printmaker raised by her maternal grandparents in Muriwhenua, the far north of Aotearoa New Zealand, of Māori, Irish, English and Croatian descent. She holds a Diploma of Fine Arts (Hons) from Otago Polytechnic, where she majored in printmaking under Marilynn Webb ONZM, and a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT Melbourne. She has taught printmaking at the Quay School of Arts in Whanganui and at NorthTec in Whangārei.

‍

Her practice centres on the interconnectedness of ancestry, narrative and culture, which she describes as a journey of self discovery. Working largely in woodcut, she investigates whakapapa, cultural memory and personal narrative, playing with the conventions of the medium alongside sign and pattern to construct new interrelationships.
‍

She is a member of the Toi Whakaata Māori Print Collective. McManus has exhibited in New Zealand, the United States, Norway and Australia at dealer and public galleries, and her work is held in public and private collections in New Zealand and internationally
